The birth centenary celebration of Sangeetacharya Vishmadev Chattopadhyay is going to be started on his 100th birthday on 8th November, 2008 which will continue till 8th November, 2009. We are going to celebrate this auspicious event for one year by conducting various programmes, workshops, seminars, camps, documentary film show, cultural trip & other activities.

Sangeetacharya Vishmadev Chattopadhyay was an extraordinary genius singer who made remarkable contribution in the history of Indian Classical music. UNESCO collected his four songs as sample to have the foreigners idea of Indian Classical Music. Sangeetacharya Vishmadev had no attraction for materialistic world. He left the name, fame, family and went to Sri Aurobindo Asram for a recluse when he was in the peak of his music career, on the top demand as a film music director, composer, performing artist and guru. After eight years he came back to Calcutta and again started performing many programmes. But he used to lead a saintly life during the last phase of his life.

We are in the venture of uplifting, spreading and propagating Indian Classical music. The celebration of the centenary year of such a music personality who himself was music in personification will focus the point at what range and dimension music can take one.
